Some Ideas

• University database of departments and areas of concentration, faculty, courses, course requirements, prerequisites, students, class schedules, etc.
• Review question and test database for courses for the University database, classes to which the questions apply, students, student answers, statistical analysis of results, etc. Could be tied to the University database.
• Background, fundamental financial and technical stock database for publicly traded companies, similar to information provided by services such as Valueline and AAII. In a embedded SQL or WWW implementation could provide for both tabular and graphic display of results.
• Data on mutual fund companies, their offerings and portfolios within those offerings, similar to information provided by Morningstar and Valueline for Mutual funds. This could be tied to the company database.
• Medical database covering diseases, symptoms, diagnoses, drugs, patients, patient history, etc. Provision could be made for embedded X-Ray, MRI, ultra sound or other images.
• Medical database covering the PDR, showing drugs, drug interactions, side effects, targeted conditions, patients, patient history, etc. Probably should be tied to the medical database.
• CDC database on the issues tracked by that agency.
• A recipes database tied to (say) the USDA available database on nutritional content of foods, tied to nutrional requirements of healthy people and to those subject to various dietarty constraints imposed by medical conditions.
• Movie, studio, actor, director, audience, awards, etc. database. This should be implemented as both information retrieval and WWW distribution system.
• Recording artist, studio, song, awards, etc. database. This should be implemented as both information retrieval and WWW distribution system.
• NTSB database on (one of) Railroad bridges, Highway bridges, railroad crossings, Airlines safety issues. As you know the NTSB is responsible for public safety in the transportation area. As part of that effort it requests and receives information from various private and public entities as to the infrastructure in place and accident data pertaining to that infrastructure.
• Database for an ongoing company that will be analyzed using data-mining tools, such as statistical analysis software.
