Introduction
As part of the requirements for this course, you will be required to create a homepage that will be accessible through the World Wide Web. Your instructor will be providing details on how to generate a page (using Hypertext markup Language or HTML). The purpose of this exercise is to expose you to the technology associated with the Internet.
Creating Homepages
The general layout for individuals homepages varies all over the map. When setting up your first homepage, a good general rule is to find a homepage layout that you like and use that as the basis for your homepage. So how do you do this?
When using a browser like Netscape, on the top menu bar on the view pull-down menu there is a document source option as shown below:

If you click on this document source option, Netscape will display the HTML used to generate the page you are viewing. For example:

If you would like to save the displayed HTML, from the main Netscape window select the file menu item and select the save as option. You may then save this file and edit it using the DOS editor or the Windows Notepad editor.
For Starters
Your instructor has provided a number of resources to aid you in this daunting task. If you go to the Webpage http://pheattch.emporia.edu, you'll see a section devoted to generating HTML. In this section are tutorials from a number of organizations, as well as a prototype homepage (for someone named Joe Random from Montana). Mr. Random's page is not very inspired, but you may use it as a prototype for your homepage.
