ANSI C18
The first standardized digital camera test was developed by ANSI and published in 2001 for AA (LR6) alkaline batteries (ANSI C18.1M, Part 1-2001). This test consisted of a 1000 mA load placed on a battery for 24 hours per day, or continuously.

There are 3 common methods for testing batteries. In the first method a battery is discharged by placing a resistor across its terminals, in the second method a battery is discharged using a device to maintain a constant current, and in the third method a battery is discharged using a device to maintain a constant power output (product of voltage and current). Of the three methods the constant resistance is the simplest requiring only some resistors and a means of measuring the battery voltage as a function of time. (1)
